Risk Assessments
Health & Safety (Waterfall Cottage):
As required by law, a Fire Risk Assessment has been completed and a copy is available on request.
The Cottage is strictly No Smoking; however, guests can smoke outside the property and ashtrays are provided. Please do not use any candles or tea lights or other inflammable items inside the property as these constitute a fire hazard that we cannot control. Likewise, please do not store any flammable liquids inside the Cottage. Please do not place hot saucepans or dishes directly on the kitchen worktop surfaces as it will burn/scorch the laminate. Heat resistant glass plates are provided next to the hob for that purpose.
Integrated Heat & Smoke Alarms are installed in each of the bedrooms and also the living/kitchen area upstairs. If one detects a fire all of the alarms will sound. In such an event, exit by either the front or back doors to the outside, before calling 999 for the Fire Services. In the unlikely event that the stairs were not passable, the dormer windows could be used as an emergency exit and await help. 2 Fire extinguishers are provided in prominent positions, one in the hallway and the other upstairs. They are suitable for Class A, B, C & electric fires. There is also a Fire Blanket on the wall in the kitchen area. Power Failure: There is a torch in the hall dresser cupboard for emergency use in the event that there is a power failure.
There is an umbrella for the patio table. Please ensure that the umbrella for the patio table is lowered at night or in windy or rainy conditions. The patio tabletop is tempered glass. Please do not sit on it, nor knock it with heavy or sharp items. Guests are welcome to walk in the fields at the back of the property, however children should be warned that the retaining wall at the edge of the lawn has a drop down to the field, and younger children should be supervised whilst outside. Please do not cross over into the field on the west of our field, as our neighbours on that side do not like walkers going over their property and there is also a lake at the bottom of their field that could be a hazard for younger children. We allow a local farmer to graze his sheep in our field, so be careful where you step and if walking any dogs please have them on a lead if any sheep are present in the field.
