Mark & Paula met in 1988 and married in 1990.

Mark has enjoyed a varied and extensive career. In his early 20’s he set up his own business in the financial and investment sector, and subsequently  sold a successful company that allowed him to pursue a long-held ambition to become an airline pilot, culminating in his promotion to Captain for a major UK charter airline on both Airbus & Boeing aircraft. Restless by nature and bored of the routine and night flights, he was then lured back into business again in 2000 and was then instrumental in setting up a number of successful aviation companies, before finally retiring in 2018, when they relocated to Cornwall and took on the major property renovation of Trelaske Manor, which is still ongoing.

Paula worked as a legal secretary for a firm of solicitors and then for Barclays before realising a long-held aspiration to become an

Air Stewardess. She rose quickly in the job, culminating as a Senior Cabin Attendant, where she met Mark. Mark took a basing in Berlin, a month before the “Wall” came down and they both spent some 3+ years there during an exceptional period in history. Mark was subsequently relocated to Gatwick Airport and Paula took over as home provider and raised their 3 children. 

Mark tried 3 times to retire, all unsuccessfully, and spent several years following a 3 year stay in Florida, setting up aviation companies in the Philippines, Middle East & the UK, travelling the equivalent of around the world, twice every month.

He finally retired in June 2018 when they relocated to Cornwall, but has never been busier, with the renovation project!

Their kids are no longer ‘legally dependant’ but do appear to still be ‘financially attached’.
